Published on November 16, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta is under pressure from his deputy William Ruto to effect a major cabinet reshuffle, but Uhuru has shown reluctance towards the topic.

The Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Ukur Yatani, has been acting as the National Treasury and Planning CS since Henry Rotich was dropped on corruption allegations.

According to inside sources, Ruto has been arguing that Yatani is overburdened by holding two sensitive dockets, and is pushing for his tribesman to assume the position, which he claims is a reserve for the Kalenjin, as dictated in the power-sharing agreement between him and President Uhuru.
