On November 16, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto addressed Jubilee leaders who publicly supported ODM's Imran Okoth, urging them to choose between the two parties.
Speaking in Kipkelion West and Sigowet/Soin in Kericho County, Dr. Ruto emphasized that individuals cannot be part of both Jubilee and ODM simultaneously, stating, 'They should decide where they want to be. It cannot be both.'
He further emphasized that Jubilee leaders should not be supervised and lectured by individuals with selfish interests, adding, 'Therefore, we do not want to be supervised and lectured by people with selfish interests, those who are after dividing and destroying our party.'
Dr. Ruto reiterated that the formation of Jubilee marked a shift in Kenya's politics towards issues, development track-record, and ideologies, and that the party would work to prevent a return to outdated politics informed by violence and hate.
He also called on Kenyans to be free to operate their businesses and make their own political choices, stating, 'Kenyans are also free to make their own political choice.'
Dr. Ruto was accompanied by several Jubilee leaders, including Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.
