On Friday, a 46-year-old man was taken into custody by the police in Isiolo, following a disturbing incident involving a 1.5-year-old baby.
The baby's mother had stepped out of the house for a short time, leaving her child in the care of a relative who had been staying with the family for three days.
When the mother returned, she was horrified to find her baby missing, only to discover her in a nearby room, naked and bleeding from her private parts.
The suspect, who has not been named for security reasons, was also found in the room, with his genital organ still erect.
The mother immediately took the baby to the Isiolo Police Station, where she reported the incident to the authorities.
Police then transported the baby to the Isiolo Referral Hospital, where a medical officer confirmed that the child had been defiled.
According to Isiolo Sub County Police Commander Moses Owiti, the suspect has since been arrested and will be arraigned in court once police complete their investigations.
Commander Owiti urged parents to be vigilant about who interacts with their children, emphasizing the importance of protecting them from harm.
