On November 16, 2019, Agnes Kagure, a Nairobi-based businesswoman and politician, expressed her disappointment with the current women representatives in Kenya.
According to Kagure, the women reps have failed to deliver on their duties and have instead brought shame to the affirmative action.
She drew a comparison between the older generation women leaders like Wangari Maathai and the current crop of leaders, stating that the latter have lost focus and direction.
Kagure cited several examples of women reps who have made headlines for the wrong reasons, including Cate Waruguru's use of obscene language and Millicent Omanga's sexual remarks.
She called on the women reps to adopt sanity and discipline, warning that without it, the affirmative action would die.
