Published on November 16, 2019, SWVL, a ride-hailing app, has resumed operations in select routes in Nairobi, including Utawala and Mlolongo, after pushing for NTSA compliance.
SWVL has added new routes, offering transport services along Thika-Westlands, Ngong-Westlands, and Kahawa Kilimani.
SWVL's decision to resume operations comes after the company faced hiccups with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) over compliance with public service vehicles' regulations.
SWVL's General Manager in Kenya, Shivachi Muleji, stated, "In our goal to provide commuters with a safe, convenient, and efficient mass transport option. We have had our challenges. We’re still in engagement with NTSA, and we remain committed to finding a way forward. We believe that our solution is transformational."
SWVL's founder, Mostafa Kandil, reiterated the company's willingness to comply with NTSA regulations, saying, "We will continue this drive and do everything required of the business to achieve our goal."
