On November 12, 2019, a violent robbery took place along Landhies Road in Nairobi, leaving a pedestrian shaken. The incident occurred at 9pm, when the suspect allegedly twisted the victim's arm while threatening him with a knife.
Charles Kamau, the victim, lost a mobile phone worth Sh16,000 to the suspect, who was later apprehended by officers from Kamukunji police station. The officers pursued the suspect into Muthurwa market, where they recovered the stolen phone and the weapon.
Anthony Mugabi Kayoki, the suspect, was charged with armed robbery before Makadara law courts on Friday. He denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji.
As a result, Kayoki was freed on a Sh500,000 bond with one surety of similar amount. The case will be heard from March 17 next year.
