Published on November 16, 2019, Eric Omondi's rags-to-riches story is a testament to the power of hard work and smart financial decisions.

After joining Churchill Show in 2007, Omondi's fame grew, but he was still struggling to make ends meet. In an interview with Lillian Muli on Citizen TV, he revealed that he was forced to live with a friend in Highrise estate for six months until he earned his first million.

'I crashed at a friend's house for six months until I got the sh1 m,' Omondi said. 'The moment you have money and do not invest it, your art will die...Mimi nimejipanga. Do not look at me and you want to live like me.'

Churchill, his mentor, advised him to save and invest his earnings, warning him against buying a Mercedes Benz after earning his first million. Omondi heeded the advice, and today, he is one of the top African comedians.

Reflecting on his journey, Omondi urged upcoming comedians and musicians to live their lives and not succumb to societal pressure. 'I want to talk to the new generation of comedians and musicians and footballers, you don't have to succumb to pressure, your time will come. I have been through a journey. It doesn't happen overnight. One has to have a mentor and save up.'
