On 15 November, President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted a meeting at Sagana Lodge with leaders from Mount Kenya region counties to discuss development projects and ease political tensions.
During the meeting, the President described the Kibra by-election as the most peaceful election ever before the 2018 handshake between him and Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga.
City lawyer Donald Kipkorir took to Twitter to praise the President's comments, saying, 'Tanga tanga members who had said it was violent must be hiding. Only one person had stones …Thank you, Mr. President, for the truth.'
However, the remarks attracted backlash from Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who asked the lawyer to refrain from debating on the issue unless he was a blogger.
Speaking at the meeting, President Kenyatta noted that the Kibra by-election was very peaceful compared to other elections conducted in the country.
