Laurent Simons, a 9-year-old Belgian genius, is making headlines for his remarkable academic achievement. In November 2019, he was set to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE) in the Netherlands.
Laurent's academic journey was accelerated due to his exceptional abilities, allowing him to complete his course faster than his peers. His family, who hail from a background of doctors, initially dismissed claims of his genius until teachers confirmed it.
“Laurent is the fastest student we have ever had here, not only is he hyper-intelligent but also a very sympathetic boy,” said Sjoerd Hulshof, TUE director at the Electrical Engineering Department.
Laurent's future plans include pursuing a Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering while also studying for a Medicine degree. He has already gained attention from prestigious universities worldwide, who have been monitoring his progress.
Despite his accelerated academic path, Laurent's parents are being cautious about letting him enjoy himself too much. They aim to find a balance between being a child and his exceptional talents.
Laurent's passion for learning and his desire to develop artificial organs are a testament to his dedication and focus. He plans to take a vacation to Japan after graduating and is already being sought after by top universities.
