On November 15, 2019, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed Manchester City's appeal against a UEFA financial fair play investigation.
According to CAS general secretary Matthieu Reeb, the appeal was deemed inadmissible because Manchester City had not exhausted the legal remedies available to it prior to the appeal.
Manchester City had lodged their appeal in June 2019 against an investigation by UEFA into potential breaches of its financial fair play policy.
The English Premier League champions had reacted angrily when they were referred to the adjudicatory chamber of UEFA's club financial control body by its investigatory chamber in May 2019.
City had supplied false financial information, and UEFA's investigatory chamber had recommended that the club be sanctioned.
The investigation into Manchester City is based on leaked emails published last year by German magazine Der Spiegel as part of "Football Leaks".
Possible punishments for Manchester City include a suspension from the Champions League, a transfer ban, or a fine.
