Businessman Salim Ali Sheikh has taken Nairobi lawyer Abib Zam Zam Abdi of Abid & Associates Advocates to court for reneging on an irrevocable undertaking to remit Ksh21 million for professional services provided to Halal Meat Products Ltd.

According to court documents, the plaintiff claims that on November 30, 2018, he entered into an agreement with the lawyer to undertake professional services for Halal Meat Products Ltd and on successful completion be paid Ksh21 million.

However, the defendant allegedly failed to honour the agreement despite the plaintiff discharging his responsibilities as agreed.

During submissions before Justice Maureen Odera, lawyer Duncan Okatch for the plaintiff argued that the defendant's actions were a breach of trust and that the court should exercise its punitive and disciplinary powers to ensure compliance of legal undertakings.

The case is set for ruling on March 13, 2020.
