November 15, 2019, marked a significant escalation in the power struggle within Nairobi County Assembly as ousted Majority Leader Abdi Guyo threatened to present evidence against Governor Mike Sonko to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The evidence, according to Mr. Guyo, centers on revenue collection and the contract with the company that took over from JamboPay, sparking a heated debate over the management of county finances.

Speaking to KTN News, Mr. Guyo also attributed the division within the county assembly to Governor Sonko's leadership, stating that the governor's actions have created an environment of mistrust and division.

Mr. Guyo's ouster as Majority Leader was confirmed in a letter from Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, who appointed Charles Thuo as his replacement.

Undeterred, Mr. Guyo has vowed to challenge his removal, stating that he will escalate the matter to President Uhuru Kenyatta if necessary.

“Definitely, we will contest it. We wrote a letter to the party and we will escalate the matter to the party leader (President Uhuru Kenyatta),” he said.
