President Uhuru Kenyatta's meeting with Mt. Kenya leaders at Sagana state lodge has strict security measures in place, with no electronic gadgets allowed inside the room.
On November 15, 2019, the President arrived at the lodge aboard a Kenya Air-force chopper and landed at the Sagana state lodge landing base at exactly 12:11 pm.
Journalists were also locked outside, while the leaders attending the meeting were drawn from Gema communities from the region and those from the diaspora, including Lamu, Nakuru, Nairobi, and Kajiado.
According to Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga, the leaders expect the President to dwell on development issues and address coffee, tea, and milk issues.
However, a source revealed that the leaders who met the President were handpicked, while the rest remained inside state lodge premises.
The leaders were invited using an SMS before a list was compiled with names of the invited, including Nyumba Kumi officials and other opinion leaders from the village level.
