On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta attended the African Philanthropy Forum at the Strathmore University Business School, where the theme was 'Accelerating Youth Employment in Africa'.

During his address, the President, accompanied by First Lady Margaret and his daughter Ngina, emphasized the need to equip the youth with proper education and tools to compete globally.

He stated, 'We must equip them with proper education and tools for them to be able to compete on the global front.'

President Kenyatta also expressed his confidence in the youth, saying, 'I see our young people as potential saviours of the African future generations.'

However, the President's administration has faced criticism for appointing retirees and older people to key government positions, sparking concerns among Kenyans, especially the youth.

As far back as 2018, social media users expressed their anger over the President's decision to overlook young and more qualified individuals in favor of political appointees who are well connected.

One such instance was the appointment of 91-year-old former Vice President Moody Awori as Chairperson of the Sports Fund, which triggered widespread criticism.

President Kenyatta defended his decision, stating, 'I have made the decision to stick with the old guys who are safe hands who will account for every penny of public funds and I am unapologetic about that.'
