President Uhuru Kenyatta is hosting a meeting with Mt. Kenya leaders at Sagana State lodge on November 15, 2019, in an effort to stem a simmering rebellion from his backyard.
The meeting, which is expected to whip the leaders behind the handshake between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga, has been met with opposition from leaders allied to his deputy William Ruto.
Those invited to the meeting include governors, senators, MPs, MCA's, county commissioners, and representatives from various sectors.
The event will be addressed by several high-profile speakers, including Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Embu Senator Njeru Ndwiga, and Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi.
Other notable speakers include Immediate past Equity Bank Group chair Peter Munga, representing the business community from the region, and Polycarp Igathe, the Executive Vice President in charge of Vivo Energy's sales across Africa.
