President Uhuru Kenyatta's State House team has devised a strategy to secure his highly anticipated event in Nyeri, where he will meet Mt Kenya leaders on November 15, 2019.
According to reports, the team delayed issuing invitations to prevent leaders from holding agenda planning meetings ahead of interacting with the head of state.
Upon arrival, invited politicians would receive attendance cards at the State Lodge gate upon presenting their Identity Card and phone numbers.
President Kenyatta played the divide and rule strategy with Deputy President William Ruto's camp, inviting some leaders who openly criticized him while excluding others.
For instance, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro claimed he had no knowledge of the meeting, while his Kikuyu counterpart, Kimani Ichungwa, was invited.
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu disclosed that 20 people had been invited per constituency, affirming that DP Ruto had not been invited.
"We have been invited by the President and will honor it. We can differ in opinion but the president and DP are still our leaders until 2022 as per the law," Wambugu stated.
