Kenya and Somalia are strengthening their diplomatic relationship, with the two countries agreeing to restore the visa on arrival arrangement.
According to President Uhuru, brothers and sisters from Somalia will be able to obtain their visas when they arrive, as announced in a press conference.
As part of the agreement, direct flights from Nairobi to Mogadishu will be allowed, reducing travel time and making it easier for people to visit families and conduct business.
President Uhuru promised that direct flights between the two capitals will start within a week's time, and that the necessary authority will facilitate mechanisms to make this happen.
Despite the ongoing maritime border case at the ICJ, scheduled for hearing in June 2020, the two countries have agreed to continue building diplomatic relationships.
President Farmajo highlighted that Kenya and Somalia have a lot in common, in business and among its people, and that he is keen to ensure that the ICJ case does not interfere with their relations.
