Published on November 15, 2019, a post by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa on social media sparked a heated exchange with Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi.

Barasa shared a court order served to Gedi, which granted her husband custody of their three children in April. He captioned the photo, saying, 'Please rally KEWOPA (Kenya Women Parliamentary Association) to combine forces with Inua Mama to assist Hon. Fatuma Gedi get another husband. So as to stop chewing small boys including her drivers and bodyguards.'

Gedi fired back, sharing an embarrassing photo of Barasa, who was once associated with SportPesa betting company. The photo was an advert placed by Pevans East Africa Ltd, cautioning the public against any claims that Barasa was a representative of the company.

Barasa's attack on Gedi received diverse reactions from other lawmakers, including ODM party Communications Director Philip Etale and Busia Woman Rep Florence Mutua. Mutua replied, saying, 'Mhesh... you must know where to draw the line. This is totally unnecessary. Let’s fight political battles mambo ya family wachana nayo (leave family out of it). Am sure you also have your battles in your front. Everyone does,'
