President Uhuru Kenyatta's meeting with Mt Kenya leaders at Sagana State Lodge on November 15, 2019, has sparked intense speculation about the agenda of the head of state.
According to sources, Uhuru's handlers have been secretly working to identify leaders from the region who will rally behind the president's agenda, which has been a subject of controversy within the Jubilee Party.
The Sagana meeting is an invite-only affair, with many critics of the president left out. Only those with invitation cards and clearance will be allowed entry to the lodge.
It is alleged that the invitations were delayed until the last minute to prevent groupings from holding agenda planning meetings.
The meeting is also seen as an opportunity for Uhuru to address the divisions within the Jubilee Party, particularly the rift between the Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke factions.
Uhuru's close ties with ODM leader Raila Odinga have been a source of discontent within the Jubilee Party, with some leaders vowing to reject the president's project, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
