On November 15, 2019, a devastating accident occurred on the Maai Mahiu – Narok road, claiming the lives of two individuals.

A petrol tanker, driven by an unidentified driver and accompanied by his turn boy, collided with a canter lorry at around 2:30am. The impact caused the tanker to roll and burst into flames, trapping the driver and turn boy inside.

Despite the efforts of firefighters from the Narok County government, the fire was too intense, and the driver and turn boy perished in the inferno.

The charred remains of the two victims are currently at the Narok Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting identification and further investigation into the accident.

Narok East Sub County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanzia has appealed to anyone with information to come forward and assist in identifying the bodies.

As the investigation continues, the two vehicles involved in the accident have been towed to the Ntulele police station for inspection.

Commander Mwanzia urged any company that may be missing a driver and turn boy to come forward and help with the identification process.

“Any company that’s missing their driver and turn-boy to come forward and help with identification of these two bodies,” said Mwanzia.
