President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to meet with all political leaders from the Mt. Kenya region at Sagana State Lodge on Friday, marking his return to the region after cancelling tours at least four times.

The meeting, which is expected to attract at least 4,000 leaders, will focus on development projects and the current political temperatures in the region.

County Commissioners and their deputies have been tasked with inviting Governors, MPs, Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), and selected community leaders to attend the meeting.

President Kenyatta's meeting with the Mt. Kenya leadership comes at a time when the region is experiencing widening cracks in the ruling Jubilee Party, with the party split into two factions: Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga.

Additionally, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, whose recommendations are yet to be unveiled, has jolted the region's political leadership.

President Kenyatta's public dress down of MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto over their perceived rebellion to his 'no politics' stance has also raised concerns among the region's leaders.
