On November 14, 2019, PiPiT, a secure online payment platform, announced a €2m partnership deal with Cellulant and Tawakal to enhance financial inclusion and payments for migrants.
As part of Ireland's trade delegation programme, PiPiT was introduced to potential partners in Kenya, facilitated by Enterprise Ireland.
Through this partnership, PiPiT will enable Kenyans living abroad to pay bills, shop online, lodge cash to bank accounts, and convert cash into mobile money.
According to Fred Klinkenberg, Enterprise Ireland's Country Manager for South Africa, 'Enterprise Ireland is focused on growing partnerships between Irish and Kenyan companies. This deal reflects the opportunities for mutual benefit in terms of business and employment growth.'
PiPiT works with various payment platforms, including Hygiea Health Insurance in Nigeria and ImpalaPay in Kenya, serving thousands of migrants who use their service to pay bills back home.
By partnering with banks in developing countries, including Kenya, PiPiT enables overseas customers to lodge money to their bank accounts through the UK Post Office, among other methods.
