On November 14, 2019, a Homa Bay court detained a Member of the County Assembly pending investigations into allegations of assault against the assembly clerk.

Kojwach Ward MCA Joan Ogada was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting clerk Daniel Kaudo in his office.

Appearing before Homa Bay Law Court Senior Principal Magistrate Thomas Obutu, Ms. Ogada was detained until Friday when she will be arraigned to take plea.

Magistrate Obutu gave the directive after police requested the court for more time to conclude investigations.

Corporal Justus Weduve, in an affidavit, argued that the case requires tight evidence which must be adduced in court.

The Investigating Officer stated that he was also probing malicious damage of property and creating disturbance in a manner likely to breach peace in the Homa Bay county Assembly.
