Belgium's Thibaut Courtois has faced intense scrutiny over his recent performances for Real Madrid, but the goalkeeper remains confident in his abilities.

Speaking ahead of Belgium's Euro 2020 qualifier in Russia, Courtois stated, 'I've shown that I belong among the best in the world. There are perhaps 10 great goalkeepers and little to choose between them.'

Despite conceding seven goals in La Liga, Courtois denied that he had started the season in poor form, saying, 'I have only conceded seven goals in La Liga so there is nothing wrong with my form.'

Courtois has been under fire following Real's 3-0 defeat at Paris St Germain in the Champions League in September and his substitution at halftime against Club Brugge last month.

However, the goalkeeper remains calm and focused, saying, 'I've never doubted my ability. To lose my self-confidence would be the biggest mistake I could make.'

Belgium has already qualified for next year's European Championship and is looking to maintain their 100 percent record in Group I in St Petersburg on Saturday.
