On November 14, 2019, Tuko.co.ke, a prominent digital media news publisher in Kenya, participated in a training program organized by social media giant Facebook.

The training, which aimed to educate media houses on Facebook's monetization policy, was a significant opportunity for Tuko.co.ke to learn about the latest developments in video monetization.

With over 3 million followers on Facebook, Tuko.co.ke was recognized as a key partner of the social media giant, making it an ideal candidate for the training.

During the training, Facebook explained the requirements for media houses to be eligible for video monetization, including having 30,000 one-minute views on videos that are at least three minutes long, and publishing videos from a Page with at least 10,000 followers.

Facebook also demonstrated the use of the 'creator studio' tool to monitor video stats and shared guidelines on the type of video content that can or cannot be monetized.

Participants, including Tuko.co.ke's editors, were keenly following the session, which marked a significant step towards enabling media houses in Kenya to earn money on their video content.
