President Uhuru Kenyatta has summoned all elected leaders from Mt Kenya region for a meeting at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri, scheduled to take place tomorrow morning.

However, DP Ruto has cancelled a parallel 'Thank You' rally at the Bomas of Kenya, which was intended to counter an ODM event in Kibra last weekend.

According to an informant from DP Ruto's camp, the president's deputy has put elaborate plans in place to gatecrash the Sagana meeting, despite not receiving an invitation.

"The Bomas of Kenya thank you rally was supposed to counter the one ODM had in Kibra last weekend. The DP was going to use the platform to show his political might. He had mobilized leaders across the political divide to attend. But it has been cancelled and he plans to gatecrash the Sagana meeting," the source said on condition of anonymity.

President Uhuru is facing rebellion from his backyard by a number of MPs in the Tanga Tanga group, who have grown bolder in opposing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and the handshake, which is the president's project.

Notably, President Uhuru skipped a fundraising event at Kenol in Muranga last weekend, where he was invited as the chief guest, instead sending his top Cabinet Secretaries led by CS Matiangi.
