On November 14, 2019, Moses Mburu, the left-back for AFC Leopards, returned to training after a year-long absence due to injury.
Mburu underwent surgery in September to repair a meniscus tear but suffered a setback when he ruptured his ankle ligaments during his recovery.
"I have had many setbacks during my recovery period, but I am very happy that I am fully-healed," Mburu said in an interview with Nation Sport. "I have been working hard to get back in shape, but the reality is I am not at the level I used to be. I am putting in the work and getting better daily," he added.
Despite his individual struggles, Mburu expressed pride in the team's performance, saying, "The team has been doing well even in my absence, and that makes me happy as the focus should be on the team doing well and not individual glory."
AFC Leopards is currently seventh in the Kenyan Premier League standings with 15 points from nine matches. The team is set to face Bandari in Mombasa the following Thursday.
