On November 14, 2019, the High Court of Kenya delivered a significant ruling in favor of the clinicians' strike, dealing a major blow to county governments.
The court's decision was a major victory for the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), which had been at the forefront of the strike.
The strike, which began in 2017, was called by the KMPDU in protest of the government's failure to implement the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and address the doctors' concerns over working conditions and pay.
