Motorola is reviving the flip phone with a modern twist, introducing the Razr, a foldable smartphone that combines the classic design with cutting-edge technology.
Pre-orders for the Razr will begin next month at select retailers in the U.S., with the device set to hit shelves early next year.
According to CNN, the Motorola Razr will be priced at $1,499 (Ksh 153,000) at full cost and will officially launch in January.
The Razr features a 6.6-inch display that folds from top to bottom, protected by a zero-gap hinge and an extra layer of glass. This innovative design aims to prevent cracks that could result from dropping the phone on a hard surface.
When closed, the Razr has a sleek, compact design, complete with a fingerprint reader and a chin-like protrusion at the bottom of the display. Unlocking the phone reveals an Android-like display, operating on the Android 9 Pie software, coupled with a custom interface.
The Razr's home screen features a Quick view function, allowing users to access their music, camera, and other basic functions, such as notifications and time. The phone also comes with a menu called 'Moto actions,' displaying icons that open various features of the phone.
Under the hood, the Razr is powered by the 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 720 processor, paired with 6GB of memory space.
