On November 14, 2019, Thierry Henry, the French football legend and former Arsenal star, made a surprise return to management as the new head coach of Montreal Impact in Major League Soccer.
Henry, 42, signed a two-year deal with the club, with the option to renew in 2022, marking his first managerial stint since being sacked by AS Monaco in January 2019 after 20 games.
"It's an honour to coach the Montreal Impact and return to MLS," Henry said in a statement. "It's a league I know well, in which I had some very nice moments. To be in Quebec, in Montreal, which has an enormous multicultural heritage, it's extraordinary. I've always kept an eye on the club and now I'm here."
Montreal Impact president and CEO Kevin Gilmore welcomed Henry's appointment, describing him as a proven winner who will bring a new energy to the club.
Henry's return to management marks a significant development in the world of football, and fans are eagerly awaiting his first match as Montreal Impact boss.
