On November 11, a passenger's nightmare unfolded on a Githurai-bound bus along Temple Road in downtown Nairobi. Wilson Mwaniki Murigi, a tout, allegedly stole a phone worth Sh 3,500 and Sh 2, 500, totaling Sh 6,000, from Ephantus Murimi.

Murigi boarded the bus plying route 45 and snatched Murimi's items before punching him three times on the stomach and alighting. Murimi reported the incident to two police officers on patrol near Kamukunji police station.

After identifying Murigi, the officers arrested him immediately and recovered the stolen items. In court, Murigi denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji.

He was granted Sh50,000 cash bail and the case is set to start on March 16 next year.
