On November 13, 2019, Isaac Manyasi, the alleged father of stowaway victim Paul Manyasi, made a shocking claim, denying that the 29-year-old was his son.

According to Isaac, his 'true' son Cedric Shivonje was detained at Industrial Area prison, and he planned to travel to Nairobi next week to pursue his son's release.

'HE (Paul Manyasi) IS NOT MY SON,I TOLD THEM THE PHOTO THEY SHOWED ME IS NOT OF MY SON, MY SON LEFT HOME IN 2016 FOR NAIROBI,' Isaac told KTN News.

However, Industrial Area Prison officials disputed Isaac's claim, stating that there was no record of a Cedric Shivonje at the facility.

A check of the Facebook profile of a user named Cedric Junior revealed that he last used Facebook on July 14, 2019, and his profile claimed he was a medical student at JKUAT University.

University management told The Star that no Cedric Shivonje exists in its medical school records of students, further casting doubt on Isaac's claims.
