On November 14, 2019, a tragic incident shook the community in Kisumu when 18-year-old Dorcas Jamilla, a first-year student at Kisumu Polytechnic, was found lying unconscious and later pronounced dead.
According to reports, Jamilla had ended her relationship with her 27-year-old boyfriend, who is now suspected of her murder. The incident occurred along the Kisumu-Kakamega highway near her parents' home in Riat.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing screams as Jamilla was found lying unconscious. The police investigation into the gruesome murder has commenced, with officers at Kondele Police Station speaking to mutual friends of Jamilla and the suspect, as well as those found at the scene after the victim sent out a distress call.
Jamilla's mother, Isca Ouma, revealed that her daughter had informed her about the boyfriend's disturbing behavior, which was interfering with her studies. Ouma had even warned the man against seeing her daughter and had traced the suspect's parents to inform them about the situation.
