Manchester City's quest for a third consecutive Premier League title is facing a significant threat, according to former Arsenal star Paul Merson.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Merson highlighted Chelsea's impressive form and the potential danger posed by their young players, including Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, and Tammy Abraham.
Chelsea, currently third in the standings with 26 points, are set to face Man City at Etihad Stadium after the international break.
Man City, who dropped to fourth after a defeat to Liverpool, are eager to retain the league title under Pep Guardiola's tutelage.
However, Liverpool's impressive form, with 34 points, has put them at the top of the standings, and they are keen to wrestle City for domestic glory.
On November 10, Liverpool stunned Man City 3-1, opening an eight-point lead on the summit of the log.
Merson warned that Man City's league defence could suffer a massive blow when they face Chelsea, stating, "You have to remember that City have Chelsea at home next who are good going forward and you are talking about a team who are going to give you problems at the back with Abraham, Mount and Pulisic."
