On Monday, McDonald Mariga returned to Kibra, where he was met with a mix of emotions from the residents who had supported him during the just-concluded by-elections.

Published on November 14, 2019, Mariga's entry into active politics had not yielded the desired results, as he finished a distant second behind ODM's Bernard Okoth in the hotly contested polls last week on Thursday.

The by-election, which attracted 24 candidates, had seen Mariga's supporters face off against those of his opponents in various skirmishes during the electioneering period.

Mariga visited some of his supporters who were injured in these skirmishes and wished them well, thanking those who had voted for him.

"I visited some of my supporters who were injured during the by-election and wished them well and also thank those who voted for me. As good citizens, we should always maintain peace no matter our differences in who we support," Mariga said.

Although Mariga remained coy on his future plans, there are reports that he is keen on making another attempt to win the Kibra seat in 2022.
