November 14, 2019, marked the beginning of Imran Okoth's journey as the newly elected Kibra MP. The MP-elect wasted no time in getting down to work, inspecting the ongoing construction of Kibera Secondary School, a project initiated by his late brother, former Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
Imran's visit to the construction site was a testament to his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises. On Twitter, he vowed to ensure that the school is commissioned within the next 100 days, a promise he made during his campaign.
"One key promise was to handover Kibra Secondary School within my first 100 days in office. I inspected the ongoing works earlier today to ensure that I meet the target," Imran said.
Ken Okoth's legacy in education is evident in the numerous projects he initiated during his tenure as Kibra MP. Under the 'Vision Elimu Kwanza' five-year strategic plan, he equipped the Shadrack Kimalel Mixed Secondary School with a two-storey block comprising nine classrooms, a computer lab, a store, offices for heads of department, and washrooms.
Ken Okoth also oversaw the rehabilitation of several schools, including Ayany, Joseph Kang'ethe, and Kibera primary. He also partnered with media personality Jeff Koinange to construct the modern Mbagathi Girls High School in 2017, with the facility's library named after the Citizen TV presenter.
