On November 14, 2019, Netflix announced a significant expansion of its partnership with Nickelodeon, marking a major milestone in their existing relationship.

The partnership has already yielded several popular titles, including animated specials Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling and Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus. Upcoming specials based on The Loud House and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are also in the works.

According to Netflix vice president of original animation, Melissa Cobb, the partnership aims to tell original stories that reimagine and expand on the worlds inhabited by beloved Nickelodeon characters. Cobb expressed excitement about continuing to collaborate with Brian Robbins, Ramsey Naito, and the creative team at Nickelodeon in new ways.

“Nickelodeon’s next step forward is to keep expanding beyond linear platforms, and our broader content partnership with Netflix is a key path toward that goal,” said Brian Robbins, President, Nickelodeon. “The Nickelodeon Animation Studio is home to world-class artists and storytellers behind iconic characters and shows, and we can’t wait to work with Melissa and the Netflix team on a premium slate of original animated content for kids and families around the world.”

The upcoming 2019 animated Netflix slate includes a range of titles, including family animated feature film Klaus from Sergio Pablos, kids animated series Dino Girl Gauko from Japan, adult animated film I Lost My Body from Jérémy Clapin, and Fast & Furious Spy Racers from DreamWorks.
