Published on November 13, 2019, Kenya's Harambee Stars are facing a financial crisis that could jeopardize their stay in Egypt ahead of the African Cup of Nations qualifier.
The team, which is set to take on the Pharaohs on November 14, has been struggling with payment issues since their arrival in Egypt.
According to the federation's acting CEO, Barry Otieno, the team is at risk of being evicted from their hotel due to lack of payment. 'The national team, Harambee Stars is on the verge of being evicted from their hotel in Egypt for lack of payment,' Otieno stated.
The Egyptian hotel management has threatened to detain a number of the technical bench members until the bill is cleared, further exacerbating the situation.
Stars were forced to divert to a 16-hour flight to Cairo through Dubai rather than a 5-hour direct flight after the government took charge of the team's itinerary.
