On November 13, 2019, Chile's football association (ANFP) announced that the country's footballers would not participate in a friendly match against Peru, scheduled for November 19, 2019, in Lima.

The decision was made after a team meeting at Chile's training centre on the outskirts of the capital, following weeks of crisis in the country.

Chile had been due to play Peru, who had beaten them in the Copa America semi-finals in Brazil in July, in a friendly match.
