Mombasa Hospital Closed Indefinitely After Fire Incident

Mombasa Hospital was closed indefinitely on November 12, 2019, following a massive fire that broke out at the facility in the early hours of the night.

According to the police chief in the Coast region, Rashid Yakub, the fire was caused by a gas explosion in the hospital's kitchen at around 3 am.

As a result, 125 patients were evacuated and relocated to nearby hospitals, including Pandya, Aga Khan, Premier, and Coast General.

Fortunately, no casualties or fatalities were reported in the incident.

Yakub explained that the gas explosion occurred in a section of the kitchen and then spread to other areas of the hospital.
