Published on November 13, 2019, James Mwangi, the CEO of Equity Bank, has expressed his desire to continue serving as the bank's chief executive until he reaches the age of 75.

According to a report by the Business Daily, Mwangi stated that he has another 20 years of service left and plans to use this time to cement Equity's expansion in Africa over the next two decades.

With 29 years of experience at Equity, Mwangi has already served longer than many of his peers. He initially joined the bank as a finance director before rising to the position of CEO in the 1990s.

When asked about his plans for retirement, Mwangi cited Warren Buffett, who is still CEO at the age of 87, as a role model. He stated, “The earliest maybe on my own volition that I would ask to retire is when I turn 75!”
