On November 13, 2019, Peter Karanja, the estranged husband of Gilgil MP Martha Wangari, faced a new challenge in his life after being arrested and charged with robbery with violence in a Naivasha court.

Just a day after being charged afresh with the murder of Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen, Karanja appeared before the Naivasha Senior Resident Magistrate Esther Mburu, alongside his brother Joel Kuria and a friend Peter Maina.

The three were charged with storming the Ms Wangare's residential home in Gilgil and attacking two security guards, Eric Nyongesa and John Kamau, on November 9 in Teacher's estate in Gilgil.

According to the charge sheet, the three are accused of robbing the two guards of their mobile phones and cash while armed with crude weapons.

The accused denied the charges, but the case took a new twist when the two guards said they wanted to withdraw the charges against Karanja and his co-accused.

The case will be mentioned on November 25.
