November 13th, 2019, marked a new low in the ongoing war of words between Deputy President William Ruto and leaders loyal to ODM leader Raila Odinga. The tension began after the humiliating loss on November 7th.
DP Ruto took to Twitter on Wednesday to continue attacking Raila Odinga, telling him to stop political conmanship through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). He accused Raila of a long history of political deceit and violence, from the 1982 coup to the recent Kibra post-poll events.
"Tinga/his party's trail of political conmanship/deceit from Kanu thro' Cord to Nasa and now heading to Jubilee; and litany of violence from 82' coup to kibra cannot be hidden behind BBI. As a minimum must 1) PUBLICLY renounce violence as a political tool. 2) UNDERTAKE to accept defeat," Ruto tweeted.
He demanded that Raila publicly renounce violence as a political tool and undertake to accept defeat. Ruto's group is using the Kibra post-poll events to put conditions for the BBI.
A war of words has ensued between DP Ruto and leaders loyal to Raila Odinga, with both camps making accusations and counter-accusations over the past four days.
