On July 2nd, 2019, a tragic incident occurred when a Kenyan man fell off a plane at Heathrow Airport. The incident has left many confused, especially after the alleged family of the victim denied that he was their son.
Paul Manyasi's frozen body was found in a garden after falling from the landing gear of a Kenya Airways plane. The man is believed to have sneaked into the wheel at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
Isaac Manyasi, the alleged father of the stowaway victim, claimed in an interview with KTN that his son was in remand and not dead as reported. However, some details have raised suspicions that Cedric Shivanji and Paul Manyasi are one and the same person.
According to Cedric's social media, he studied at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and attended Tande High School. He also claimed to be from Kakamega, just like Isaac Manyasi.
The photos used by Sky News to identify Paul Manyasi are identical to those on Cedric's social media. This has led many to question whether it is a case of pure coincidence.
Colnet Limited, a cleaning company contracted to offer services at JKIA, has distanced itself from knowing Paul Manyasi. In a statement, Chege Kariuki, Managing Partner of Colnet Limited, said:
‘FOR AN EMPLOYEE TO WORK IN THE RESTRICTED AREAS OF THE AIRPORT, HE/SHE REQUIRES A SPECIAL PASS WHICH IS ONLY ISSUED AFTER THOROUGH VETTING BY THE KAA AUTHORITY. THERE ARE RECORDS OF THE PASSES ISSUED AND ALL COLNET EMPLOYEES ARE ACCOUNTED FOR WITHOUT FAILURE AT THE END EVERY SHIFT. WE CAN CONFIRM WITHOUT A DOUBT THAT WE DON’T HAVE, AND HAVE NEVER HAD PAUL MANYASI AS AN EMPLOYEE,’
The incident has raised questions about the identity of the stowaway victim and the circumstances surrounding his death.
