Marcus Rashford: Manchester United Builds Young Players to Cope with Pressure ¶
Published on November 13, 2019
Manchester United's top scorer Marcus Rashford has revealed how the club helps young players manage the pressure of playing for one of the world's biggest teams.
At just 22 years old, Rashford has already had a bittersweet career since rising up the ranks in stunning fashion back in 2016. Despite the high expectations that come with playing for Manchester United, Rashford claims the club works with players to help them cope with the pressure.
"Yeah, it's a massive privilege. For me, I've been at United for many years and the amount of friends I've seen come and go is huge, and it just makes you feel, as you say, privileged that you managed to get the opportunity," Rashford explained in an exclusive interview with Inside United magazine.
Rashford, who is currently United's top scorer this season, believes that having a level head is key to managing the pressure of playing for a big club. "You know, whether you win or you lose, if you try to keep the same sort of feeling and a level head, it tends to help you best," he said.
Despite being on the receiving end of criticism, particularly with the rise of other young stars in the England camp, Rashford claims that the pressure does not get to Manchester United players. "Once you do that, the pressure does not get to a Manchester United player whatsoever," he said.
