On November 12, England's squad trained with both Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez participating in the session, despite reports of a clash between the two players at the England team's training centre.
The Football Association (FA) announced that Sterling would be banned from playing in the game against Montenegro on November 14 due to a 'disturbance in a private team area at St. George's Park.'
The incident occurred after a confrontation between Sterling and Gomez on the field during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Manchester City in the Premier League on the weekend.
According to reports, Sterling attempted to grab Gomez by the neck following his arrival to the canteen, resulting in Gomez having a large scratch beneath his right eye.
However, Sterling later admitted on his social media accounts that his emotions had gotten the better of him and that he had patched things up with Gomez.
Sterling has become a key player for England in the past year, scoring 12 goals in 55 games and being named Footballer of the Year in 2018 by the Football Writers' Association.
