On November 13, 2019, a group of Jubilee MPs from the Kieleweke wing of the ruling party defended Raila Odinga, PS Kibicho, and Interior CS Fred Matiangi against allegations made by Tanga Tanga MPs.
The Tanga Tanga MPs had claimed that CS Matiangi and his PS Karanja Kibicho met Raila Odinga in Karen to rig the Kibra by-election, but the Jubilee MPs dismissed these claims as baseless.
Speaking at Parliament Buildings on Wednesday, the MPs accused DP Ruto and his brigade of being sore losers who were now looking for an excuse to oppose the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) after being beaten to pulp in the Kibra poll.
‘You can’t go attacking CS’s and PS’s who were not involved in the Kibra campaign to make yourself feel better because you lost. You were the ones shouting that people must accept when they lose elections. You lost in Kibra. That’s just the beginning. So get used to losing and stop throwing childish tantrums and attacking people who were not even involved in campaigns,’ Nyeri Town MP said.
The Jubilee MPs also questioned why the Tanga Tanga Group did not report the alleged meeting to the relevant authorities if it indeed took place.
The Kibra poll has left Tanga Tanga exposed, revealing how DP Ruto has lost his influence in government. There are also claims that the Ruto-led faction is bitter because their boss spent a fortune in the by-election only to be beaten by a wide margin.
