On November 11, 2019, a viral video captured the brutal assault of JKUAT student Allan Omondi by police officers in Juja, sparking widespread outrage and calls for accountability.

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has since released the names of three of the four officers involved in the assault: George Wathania, Kibet Chemipei, and Boniface Muthama.

According to NPSC Chairman Eliud Kinuthia, the fourth officer remains unidentified due to the complexity of the investigation and the need for assurance in the identification process.

Following the public backlash, CS for Interior Dr. Fred Matiang'i responded, stating that firm and decisive action would be taken against any officer who used excessive force within 24 hours.

The three identified officers have been interdicted to allow for further investigations and potential disciplinary action.

Despite the police boss's claims that the conditions of Allan Omondi are unclear, injured students are reportedly receiving treatment at different levels.
