Published on November 13, 2019, Diamond Platnumz, CEO of Wasafi Festival, has spoken out on allegations of discrimination against fellow bongo artists during the tour.

According to Diamond, planning the Wasafi Festival tour is not an easy task, and tight budgets often prevent him from inviting homegrown artists from specific regions.

However, he expressed gratitude to the event's sponsors for their support, which he believes will eventually enable the festival to host key music acts in various regions of Tanzania.

A Plea for Unity

Diamond called on well-established artists to aid the government in their social campaigns and mobilization of key educative programs that are vital to the public.

He emphasized that artists have the power to disseminate information to the public in a simple and effective manner, and urged sponsors to involve multiple artists in their campaigns to ensure efficient dissemination of information.

He also commended the Wasafi Festival 2019 for breaking the tradition of artists not being involved in fellow bongo artists' events.

Breaking Down Barriers

Diamond urged artists to participate in different gigs and become stakeholders in events where sponsors are not available, thereby breaking down barriers and promoting unity among bongo artists.

He also emphasized that artists should not focus on another artist's successes, as everyone is a king in their own kingdom.

He concluded by saying that artists should work together to promote their own success and that of their peers.
