On October 25, 2019, WhatsApp rolled out a new update that brought several useful features to its users, including enhanced group privacy controls and fingerprint unlock. However, as of November 13, 2019, users have been reporting a concerning issue with the latest version 2.19.308 of the application.

According to reports, the update has caused unexplained constant battery drain, affecting users of OnePlus smartphones. This issue is unusual, as users have not experienced such problems when restoring WhatsApp messages on a new device in the past.

A quick glance at online forums reveals that this issue is not limited to a few users, but rather a widespread problem affecting many OnePlus smartphone users. The issue appears to be less noticeable or non-existent on devices from other brands.

As of now, there is no fix available for this issue, and WhatsApp has not acknowledged the matter. Uninstalling and re-installing the application does not seem to resolve the problem. Users are advised to be on the lookout for an update soon that may address this issue.
